Check out this BBC report... 5/20 - Scottish officials say the 140-turbine Whitelee farm (pictured) – where turbine stands some 330 feet tall - will add another 36 turbines, enabling the whole farm to generate some 452 MW, which is enough to power 250,000 homes in nearby Glasgow. Here’s a report from the BBC… 5/14 - California company Better Place wants to build a nationwide infrastructure for electric cars. It's showing how easily Americans can change batteries at a “swapping station.” The YouTube video shows how it works; the company claims a car can pull in, get a fresh battery and be back on the road in under a minute and a half – quicker than filling a gas tank... 5/13 - Podcast: Former CIA DIRECTOR JIM WOOLSEY is focused on kicking America’s oil habit. What’s the best way? By shifting our transportation network from one that is oil-based to one that is electricity –based. He also talks about ethanol – one type is better than another, he thinks – whether we should raise gas taxes and cap-and-trade. Carter – who in 1977 called the fight for energy independence “the moral equivalent of war” – said the United States is vulnerable to foreign blackmail and added "Whether we admit it or not, we are very careful not to aggravate our major oil suppliers." Watch this highlight from the Carter’s congressional testimony… 5/8 - The American Wind Energy Association’s annual convention in Chicago is a wrap; some 20,000 people and 1,200 exhibitors crammed into Chicago’s McCormick Center for a week of deal making and partying. At the top of the industry’s agenda: getting Congress to pass Renewable Energy Standards – or RES. Energy tycoon T.
